On Monday we released our 3rd party GC/MS testing on 13 samples of Peppermint from 12 different companies.
Out of the 13 Peppermint essential oils tested….
2 of these were shown to have a synthetic additive, ethyl vanillin, a “powerful odorant,” added to the Peppermint essential oil.
How does this make you feel? Do you mind that essential oil, marketed as “100% pure,” “therapeutic grade,” and “unaltered,” in fact contains a synthetic?
9 were found to not be in compliance with ISO standards.
What do you think about that? Do you think companies and/or suppliers are dropping the ball? Do you think this means their could be more demand for Peppermint than a pure supply? Does the ISO standard even matter to you?
What do you think about the companies responses? How did they make you feel?
If you are not satisfied either with how a company’s oil was shown to not be in compliance, or with the response they gave, you need to tell them! It’s one thing to do 3rd party testing, but in order to keep them accountable, we need to let them know how we feel.
Remember what Plant Therapy did when their Tea Tree was found not in compliance? They chose, on their own, to pull the batch and replace it with a new one. I did not see any company who was tested during our Peppermint round offer to do the same - perhaps they need YOU to contact them and ask them to remove non-ISO compliant batches - especially the ones found to contain a synthetic.
Here is the contact info for the companies who were not found in compliance. Let them know how you feel!
