Scar Away

scarawayimg This is a recipe I made during my Aromahead certification course (learn more about Aromahead here: Education). It’s a keeper! My husband has scars on his shins from finding the coffee table in the dark *cough* and this stuff has been a miracle for these old scars.

I also tried this on some stretch marks just for fun, and swear I see improvement after just a few days! I do have a “stretch mark smudger” recipe coming soon, so stay tuned for that (and here it is!).

I went for a 10% dilution for this recipe for old scars. Newer scars might only need a 5% dilution. If you want a 5% dilution, cut the number of essential oil drops in half.

Lea’s Scar Away recipe

In a 5ml roller bottle (you can use a different bottle if you want) add:

  • 4 drops Helichrysum Helichrusum italicum essential oil
  • 4 drops Frankincense Boswellia carteri essential oil
  • 2 drops Geranium Pelargonium graveolens essential oil

Fill to the top with Tamanu Oil (leave room to get the roller ball on without overflowing).

Use daily, applying directly on the scar.

Note: The species of the essential oils I used are just what I had on hand. You can use other species if you wish.

As with all essential oil products I make, I like to take a 1-week break after 2-3 weeks of use to be sure I don’t build up a sensitivity.

If you decide to apply more often than once a day, I would suggest that you take a break after a week or two to prevent sensitization. It’s really not much of a risk with these essential oils, but I just have to throw that out there :)

Here is another recipe using Tamanu Oil with Rosehip Oil. Both are excellent for helping scars to heal. These oils are not essential oils, they are carrier oils.

I made this blend in a 10ml roller bottle, so I doubled the amount of EOs in the original Scar Away blend for the 5ml size bottle.

I use the Tamanu and Rosehip oils from Aura Cacia (purchased through Vitacost). They are organic and come in fingertip pump bottles. If you have not shopped with Vitacost before, you can get a $10 coupon for Vitacost products here.

Give this a shot and let me know how it works for you :)
