I had another surprise package from GreenAir the other day. Inside was some of their new diffusers! The SpaGlow (which I will review/give away at a later date), and several of their brand spankin’ new SpaVapor PRO diffusers.

This post will compare the original SpaVapor and the new SpaVapor PRO.

You can find my other diffuser reviews here.

SpaVapor vs. SpaVapor PRO

Side by Side Comparison

Here are both diffusers, side by side. You can see they don’t look the same at all. Although roughly the same size, they have several differences, which I will explore…

The Lights

One of the first things you will notice when you turn the diffusers on, is that the light placement is different. The SpaVapor lights show up around the sides of the diffuser, where the SpaVapor PRO lights mostly glow out the top.

Something to consider is if you are using this as a night-light in your child’s room, there will be more glow from the SpaVapor (although I wonder if the SpaVapor PRO will reflect more of the ceiling…making a note to check tonight!).

The SpaVapor has six rotating lights, where the SpaVapor PRO has three…but they seem to show similar shades, so this probably isn’t very important to know.

Which one is best? This is totally a matter of preference. I find looking at the lights very soothing, so I would probably cast my vote to the SpaVapor. But this is totally subjective.

Top View

This is a top view of both diffusers. You can see the sizes are pretty close. Both have a rotating nozzle that can be directed where you wish.

And you can’t tell from this photo (although you can see it in the previous one), but the lid for the SpaVapor PRO fits snugly on the base, partly due to the wavy shape. The SpaVapor lid just sets on, but isn’t very tight. This is not a huge issue, but if it tips, the water and essential oils are less likely to spill out of the SpaVapor PRO.

Which one is the best? Due to the top being clear, my vote goes to the SpaVapor PRO. I like being able to look in and see where the water level is. I also like that the lid is more secure on the SpaVapor PRO.

Looking Inside - the bottom

It’s obvious I have used my SpaVapor a lot, and the SpaVapor PRO is new :) This is just for the geeks, there is not much to see here, really!

Looking Inside - Fill Lines

Here are the fill lines on both models. You can see where the SpaVapor line is a bit worn away from use. It appears as if the text on the SpaVapor PRO will hold up better. I will have to let you know!

The SpaVapor holds 180ml, and the SpaVapor PRO holds 200ml.

Note: it is important to not over-fill, or the diffuser won’t work properly. You know you have filled it too high if the output is very low.

The Pieces

As you can see, there are more pieces to the SpaVapor. Both contain a base, lid (SpaVapor has two pieces), and a swivel top that rotates 360 degrees.

Which one is the best? I find it much easier to remove the single lid off the SpaVapor PRO it is one less step in the process. The swivel piece stays tighter in the lid of the PRO, too, which also helps. My vote goes to the SpaVapor PRO.

The Buttons

This is one of the biggest difference between the models - their buttons.

The SpaVapor has two buttons: one that turns the lights on and off, and one that turns the diffuser on and off. The benefit to two buttons is that when you are not running the diffuser, you can use this as night light.

The SpaVapor PRO has just one button. Pressing once will turn on the diffuser and the lights. If you press again, the light will hold at the color it was when you pressed a button (the colors rotate). Pressing again shuts off the lights, and pressing a fourth time will shut off the diffuser.

Which one is the best? This is a hard one. If I needed to use the diffuser as a night light, I would have to pick the SpaVapor. Otherwise, it just depends on which setup you prefer. I am having a tough time deciding!

The Bottoms

This is another photo I took for the geeks. Not sure you are going to make a purchasing decision based on this photo :)

The Plug Positions

You might not think this is significant, but I believe it is.

When filling the SpaVapor at the sink, I always had to remember to cover the plug connection hole with my finger so water would not get inside the unit. Since the SpaVapor PRO connects underneath, this isn’t as big of a concern.

Of course if you bring water to your diffuser, this isn’t much of an issue!

Which one is the best? My vote has to go to the SpaVapor PRO.

Just for fun, here is a photo of the SpaVapor running (the PRO is not on).

And here is the SpaVapor PRO running. It’s difficult to tell by the photos (with the air moving), but they have the same visual output.

How many square feet do these diffusers cover?

According to their boxes, the SpaVapor covers 250 sq. feet, and the SpaVapor PRO covers 400 sq. feet.

How long do they run?

According to their boxes, the SpaVapor runs up to 5 hours, and the SpaVapor PRO runs up to 6 hours. However, when I timed them myself, I found the SpaVapor to run 3 hours, 7 minutes. The SpaVapor PRO ran 4 hours, 40 minutes.

Conclusion

The cost of the new SpaVapor PRO is a few dollars more. This is worth it if:

  • you need it to cover more square feet
  • you like that the lid is one piece and fits snugly
  • you want it to hold 20ml more water.
  • you like that it plugs in on the bottom
  • you want it to last longer before re-filling.

You will want the SpaVapor if:

  • you need to keep the cost down as low as possible
  • you like more visible lights
  • you want to be able to use it as a night light only

To be honest, neither one will disappoint. I will be including my SpaVapor PRO in the family, and I won’t be retiring my SpaVapor.

SpaVapor vs. SpaVapor PRO (GIVEAWAY for SpaVapor PRO!) — 20 Comments

  1. My couselor says the diffusing eos could help me sleep better. I’ve never really been a good sleeper, but since the onset of my Bipolar 3 years ago, it’s be exceptionally hard. This would be a big help to me.

  2. My son loved my diffuser so much that he asked me to move it to his bedroom. Now I am without one for my living room! I’m happy to give it to him, but I would love one for the living room again! :)

  3. I’m relatively new to essential oils and do not yet own a diffuser. I’d love to win this one for our family. Our adopted son would greatly benefit from it I think!
