This paste was amazing on my refrigerator. Marks I had been unable to remove for years just melted away.
Bathtubs? As good as new. Just wet your sponge, put a teaspoon or two on the sponge, and scrub. Scum just melts away…
Ovens? You bet!
When my stoneware cookie sheet cracked in the oven while I was baking turkey thighs, it made quite the mess. Unable to clean it before baking a chicken, it baked on hard.
I admit the oven wasn’t pristine before the spill, and it really needed to be scrubbed out before I used it again.
Knowing what a wonderful job Lemon essential oil does for removing stickers and other stuck-on things, I knew it would be great in this paste. I was right! This is now my go-to scrub when nothing else works. In fact it will be my first choice, since it works so darn well!
I mixed up this paste in a glass jam jar I couldn’t bear to throw out. Here is my recipe:
All-Purpose Killer Paste & Oven Scrub
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 2 TBSP hydrogen peroxide (3%)*
- 10 drops Lemon essential oil (I used Aura Cacia Lemon from Vitacost, but you can use other brands, too
*double/triple this amount to make a soft scrub
Mix well.
Now you have a nice consistency that will allow you to scoop out what you need with your fork and scrub away.
If you want to store in a lotion bottle/squeeze bottle you will need to add more peroxide to thin it out a little.
Here I am applying it to my oven door:
Now I will scrub it away (I wet the wire scrubby first):
In seconds, look what a great job it did! Now I will wipe it with a paper towel:
Doesn’t that look great?
That was glass, but what about the edge of the door? I plop on some paste here:
And scrub it away:
Here is a video showing you how quickly I did that, so you don’t think I was there too long
