Our last round of 3rd party testing on Tea Tree oil from various companies found two companies which were not “in compliance” with ISO standards. One of these companies was Plant Therapy.
The afternoon after the results were posted, Plant Therapy sent me an e-mail. I am quoting the e-mail below with their permission (I left out one sentence which indicated which company they share a supplier with):
Hi Lea,
I am happy to see that you have done testing on many different brands of essential oils. I am also completely shocked and saddened to see that our tea tree oil did not pass the test. I am committed to providing a very high quality product to our customers and regularly reject batches of oils that don’t meet our quality standards. I will immediately go over our quality control measures and see how this could have happened. I will take corrective action right away.
We both recognize that one test of one oil does not make conclusive evidence that we do not have good oils, but I work very hard to provide the highest quality oils we can and would like a chance to redeem myself.
I stand behind my products and would love to be included in the next round of testing. I am happy to fund it 100% if you would let me as long as you promise me you are not working with an essential oil company and that your results are 100% unbiased. I would also like to have our tea tree oil re-tested and would like to send you a bottle from our most recent batch to send it with your other oils.
Please let me know how to proceed.
Thanks,
Chris Jones, owner

Further proving their commitment, they pulled all of their Tea Tree Oil off of their website and from amazon until they could obtain a new batch. This was at a cost of “literally thousands of dollars, possibly over $10,000″ according to Chris Jones, the owner.
Although Plant Therapy’s Tea Tree was unavailable for several days, the new batch arrived and their Tea Tree is now available again.
When I shared this on the Learning About EO’s Facebook group, the responses were overwhelmingly positive. Here is what some of the members had to say:
Holy cow, that’s amazing!!! Huge kudos to them. I will not hesitate to purchase from them.
I agree. I think they just got themselves a ton of new customers, despite the testing results. Obviously, they are trying to ensure than they have quality oils!
they are very savvy business people. love it!!!
That is awesome! A great example of how a company should be run!!
They have MOST DEFINITELY earned my repeat business. I get most of my EOs from a frontier buy so its AC, but PT will be my next go to.Wow, that’s pretty impressive.
Well, gosh! Now I am gonna have to buy a bunch of Plant Therapy oils!
It’s good to know there is still a buisness that cares about more than profit & bottom line, of course the way they are handling this is absolute buisness professionalism & well deserves our interest & buisness…I personally have never purchased from them, but that shall change…
Thats amazing! How can you not trust a company that reacts in this way!
I am ordering from them tonight!
I have not bought from them before but you bet your booty I will be now!
Whoa, I am extremely impressed. Being new to the EO community, I was already getting a “sour” taste in my mouth for all the hostility found around the internet. When I found this group I was encouraged. I started feeling a bit like giving it up again when the results came out and I read all the negative responses from certain sites. All the opinions. I am so moved by Plant Therapy’s business ethics. It is Amazing. I am grateful for companies EO related or not that are dedicated to honesty and quality control. I have never bought from them but am going to now, just on principle.
We will be including Plant Therapy’s new bottle of Tea Tree along with the samples Peppermint for our next round of testing.
Although the new batch of Tea Tree results are still to be determined, their obvious commitment to quality speaks volumes. They care. And for consumers, that is music to our ears.
